DX design

Reducing friction in the development process

Developers will be developers

In scalable apps, a UI design exercise often results in a Figma design system where developers can grab color codes, dimensions, font sizes and more. Some of them tend to prefer coding over implementing styles (surprise!), which can lead to end products that don't fully match the originally intended look and feel. I'm on a mission to bridge that gap.

What on earth is DX design?
Developer eXperience design is the practice of understanding how developers get their work done, and optimizing that experience.
Everybody wins

Everybody wins

Being both a designer and a developer, I understand the quirks of both roles. Take the project I did for Var Campaign Hub, for instance. We set up reusable React components in Storybook, where I delivered interactive states, variant instances, and SCSS styling. This spared the dev team from countless styling iterations.

Of course, DX design can involve much more than that. What I do is just a small part of a larger effort to streamline the entire lifecycle.

Some projects where I provided DX design:

Var Campaign Hub

Var Campaign Hub

A better interface and workflow from the ground up

Ticketmatic

A major brand and UX upgrade for the leader in ticketing
